Memory foam is a popular choice for many people when it comes to bedtime. Also known as visco-elastic foam, it has a very exciting origin! It was first designed by NASA in the 1960s to counteract the extreme pressure astronauts face when exiting and entering the earth’s atmosphere.
A memory foam mattress combines a layer of memory foam with springs or support foam. The material provides comfort and support when pressure is applied on it, and then once pressure is removed, it slowly bounces back to its original form. Over time, it remembers your body shape and optimal sleep position, hence the “memory” name.
Here at EZE, we have included the same NASA developed pressure relieving memory foam layer into all of our mattresses to give you that zero-g feeling as you float off to sleep.
Optimal Support & Comfort
Because memory foam contours to the shape of your body as you apply pressure, it targets support where you need it the most. It helps with optimal alignment of your spine as you sleep, making for a very personalised night’s sleep. The surface moulds around you to evenly distribute your body weight when occupied, making it feel like the mattress was made just for you!
Pressure & Pain Relief
A memory foam mattress helps to reduce pressure on even the heaviest parts of your body and helps to relieve aches and pains as you lie on it. The soft texture of the mattress cradles your body, reducing pressure on your hips and joints while keeping the spine in alignment. Because of this, many people find that a memory foam mattress is the best option for a bad back. Memory foam is also thought to help promote healthier blood circulation throughout the night too.
Temperature Control
We know that our body temperature effects how well we sleep. Memory foam beds are manufactured using a temperature-sensitive material that allows the mattress to adjust your body heat as you sleep through the night. As your temperature increases, the mattress becomes softer.
Less Disturbance
As memory foam contours to your body, it creates your very own personal sleeping space. The same goes for your partner too. A memory foam layer helps to prevent each of you disturbing the other at night. It’s a good option if your partner often wakes you up by moving in their sleep.
Allergen Resistant
Memory foam mattresses feature a visco-elastic structure that can't be penetrated by dust mites. This is especially useful for those who suffer with allergies and can dramatically reduce allergic symptoms. It provides a cleaner, fresher and healthier night's sleep for everybody.
